Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,
I hope this message finds you all enjoying a wonderful summer. It is with genuine excitement and a warm smile that I introduce myself as your new Principal/Superintendent at Kake City Schools. I am deeply honored to join this exceptional educational community.
A bit about my background: For the past six years, I've had the privilege of working in Colorado, but before that, Juneau, Alaska was my home. Living there, I developed a profound appreciation for the diverse cultures and values that define Alaskan communities. Returning to this remarkable state fills me with immense joy and anticipation.
Most recently, I served as the Director of Literacy at the Colorado Department of Education. In this role, I collaborated closely with passionate educators, administrators, and policymakers to advance literacy initiatives benefiting all students. My experiences in Colorado have equipped me with valuable insights that I am eager to bring to our journey here in Kake.
As Superintendent, there is no better feeling than the start of a new school year. We are all part of the Kake City School family and share in the excitement and anticipation that comes with most of our students back in the classroom. It is truly an honor and a privilege for me to open the 2024-2025 school year as your Superintendent/Principal. My focus for this year is to create a safe and secure learning environment where strong partnerships and respectful relationships can flourish. It is only by working together that we can build the kind of momentum that will launch the Kake City School District into a new era of possibilities for students, parents, and the entire community of Kake, Alaska.
I am genuinely eager to get to know each of you—students, families, and community members alike. As we look ahead to the upcoming fall semester, we have a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and our community as a whole.
To kick off our journey, I invite you to join me for a "Meet and Greet" session where we can engage in conversation, share stories, and begin building strong connections. I have set aside time in my Google Calendar for appointments, available in 30-minute slots until the end of July (when I officially relocate to Kake). Please use the link below to schedule a convenient time:
Once again, I am thrilled to be joining the Kake City Schools family, and I am eager to embark on this journey together as we prepare for a successful school year.
Warm regards,
Dr. Anji Gallanos
Principal/Superintendent
