Recently, a person has tested positive for COVID-19. As members of the school community, we understand this raises concerns and care for the individuals affected. We are working closely with our local SEARHC Clinic and public health to respond to this news and protect the health of our community by taking the following steps:

This is a Kake Schools Christmas Program reminder. Kake Schools is in COVID Transmission Risk Level Green making it possible to open indoor events at 50% occupancy as stated in KCSD’s mitigation plan. Unfortunately, it will still limit audience or spectators in the building to ticket holders, students, and staff. The good news is that the Christmas Program will be on Zoom and Facebook Live with Rich Catahay, as well.

KCSD COVID REMINDERS
NOVEMBER , 2021

COVID testing for all students and staff, Friday, November 5, with the following schedule. Do not test on this schedule if you are quarantined. Sunday’s testing is canceled.
12:30 – 1:30 Grades Kindergarten – 3rd and their school-age siblings
1:30 – 2:30 Grades 4th – 7th with their school-age siblings
2:30 - 3:30 Grades 8th through 12th and their school-age siblings

Because of ongoing positive COVID cases, there will be no in-person school, but rather begin a transition to remote learning tomorrow, Tuesday, November 2. Remote learning packet pick-up will be from 10:00 to 12:00, Tuesday morning at the elementary front entrance. Breakfast and Lunch bagged meals will be distributed at the high school front entrance each school day while on remote learning from 10:00-12:00. This is a temporary COVID mitigation effort with hopes to be back in-person next week. We will test on Sunday afternoon, November 7 starting at 1:15.

The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority. This notice is to inform you that 2 students in quarantine tested positive for COVID 19. Testing was done in isolation and away from all other staff and students.
As an extra precaution students will be tested on their day off to return to in-person instructions the following day. We will conduct our weekly testing for all of our students and staff on Monday, November 1, with the following schedule. Do not test on this schedule if you are quarantined.

COVID 19 screening tests are available each weekday morning at 8:30 in the library for KCSD students and staff members who recently traveled. A negative COVID test after travel is required prior to returning to work or classrooms. If you were in close contact to a positive COVID person, call the clinic for medical advice.
